The Poker Room: What You Walk Into
Our poker room is on the third floor of the Hotel at Pickering Casino Resort, and you get there directly by taking the hotel elevators up. It reopened in its current layout on January 29, 2024, after a formal launch from Great Canadian Entertainment. The space holds 18 tables in total: 16 on the main floor area and 2 separate high-stakes rooms that we keep set aside for private sessions.
Every table is equipped with an automatic shuffler. The room has its own bar, and we run full tableside food service. Players can also order from The District food hall right to their seat, which is especially helpful when a session runs long and you do not really want to leave the table.
The poker floor covers around 20,000 square feet, so you are not squeezed in beside other games. For Ontario standards this is a fairly large dedicated poker room. We use it for cash games, our weekly events, and the private rooms, so different stake levels and formats can run side by side without feeling cramped.

If you want a seat in a cash game, you can add your name to the list through the PokerAtlas app or by calling the room. That part is important to keep straight: PokerAtlas is used only for live room waitlists and seat tracking. It does not provide any online poker play or remote real-money games under our brand.
Tournament Registration: How It Actually Runs
We host weekly live poker tournaments on a fixed schedule at the resort. Seats are booked by phone. To register, call 289-539-0552 ext. 8762 and we will complete your entry. Payment is taken during registration, and once a ticket is issued it cannot be transferred to another player.
If plans change and you are no longer able to attend, you can cancel and get a full refund as long as you contact us at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Money is returned using the same payment method you used to register.
Every tournament player has to meet the same eligibility rules:
- Must be 19 years of age or older
- Must present a valid government-issued photo ID
- Out-of-province guests and anyone under 30 must carry a secondary government-issued ID
- Health Cards are not accepted as valid identification
- Must not be trespassed or self-excluded at the time of participation
The list of current tournaments with start times and buy-ins is posted at greatcanadian.com/promotions/weekly-poker-tournaments. That page is kept up to date, and we sometimes adjust timing, so checking online before you call is usually the safer move. It reduces the chance of showing up for an event that has shifted.
Cash Games: Stakes, Formats, Getting A Seat
Cash games are the core of the room and run day and night at different stake levels in Texas Hold’em and Omaha. There is no official start time for a cash session. Players arrive when they are ready, ask to be added to the list, and take a seat once the table has an opening. That is really the whole flow.
Our PokerAtlas listing confirms that you can join the waitlist through the app or by phone. Once again, this is just a queue and seat management tool for players who are coming to the room. It does not mean we have an online poker product or any version of real-money remote play using the Pickering Casino Resort name.
Great Canadian Rewards members earn Comp dollars for eligible gaming activity at the resort, including poker. If you join the rewards program before you sit down, your poker play is tracked right from your first hand. For longer visits this is worth doing ahead of time, because missing out on comps just because registration was delayed is frustrating and hard to fix after.

The two high-stakes private rooms are separate from the main poker floor. Access to those is arranged directly through our poker room staff, not through the standard app waitlist or the usual sign-up process.
